Origin

Matcha traces its roots back to ancient China during the Tang Dynasty, but it found its true spiritual and cultural home in Japan. Deeply embedded in Zen Buddhism and the traditional Japanese tea ceremony ("chanoyu"), Matcha is made from specially grown and finely ground shade-grown green tea leaves. Over centuries, it has become more than a beverage—symbolizing mindfulness, harmony, and respect. Today, Matcha is globally celebrated not only for its ceremonial value but also for its robust health benefits. At MithaiCana, we bring this centuries-old tradition to our Bangalore café, offering a calm, nourishing escape from the city's hustle.

Taste & Quality

Matcha has a rich, earthy flavor with notes of umami and a slight, pleasant bitterness balanced by a natural sweetness. Its vibrant green color and smooth, frothy texture when whisked properly make it both visually striking and deeply satisfying. Unlike regular green tea, Matcha is consumed in powdered form, allowing you to ingest the entire leaf and receive its full nutritional value. Traditionally served in a chawan (tea bowl), it is now enjoyed in various modern forms—hot or iced, in lattes, or even blended into smoothies. At MithaiCana, we use ceremonial-grade Matcha sourced directly from Japan to ensure an authentic and energizing experience in every cup.

Shelf-life & Storage

Matcha is best enjoyed fresh within a day at room temperature once prepared. If refrigerated, it can stay fresh for 1-2 days. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. If refrigerated, allow it to come to room temperature for about 10-15 minutes before serving to experience its optimal texture and flavor.
